GRIN DISORDER CHILDREN

We, the parents of the GRIN children, joined together to pursue our goal - a complete recovery for our children. We established an organization called GRIN DISORDER RESEARCH FOUNDATION (GDRF) whose sole purpose is to research and find a cure for our children. Our hope is gene therapy, which in simple words will allow us to replace the "malformed" gene in a normal gene in our children's brains. And that means healthy children with normal functioning! We belong to the GRIN family. About 400 children worldwide carry a genetic mutation in one of the GRIN genes (GRIN1, GRIN2A, GRIN2B, GRIN2C, and GRIN2D). They have severe developmental problems (motor and cognitive), lack of speech and epilepsy. Our charming children - they all have a big and captivating smile, but they cannot talk, walk or perform basic actions. Unfortunately, medicine today is lacking. There is no treatment that allows the abnormal mechanism in our children's brains to return to normal activity. We decided not to accept the bitter decree and chose to do something. We have already established partnerships with the world's leading research laboratories. We have gathered specialist and researchers from different fields.
