Raising funds for Ya'ara's treatment journey

Shalom! For those who know us and those who don’t, we are Benjamin and Ahia, the parents of our sweet Yaara Dvora. We live in Moshav Yevul, in the Eshkol Regional Council. We are about to embark on an innovative treatment journey, hoping to encourage the brain's ability to adapt and form new neural connections. For us, this journey represents another opportunity to open new possibilities for Yaara's progress. The estimated cost of this treatment process is around 450,000 NIS. We would be deeply grateful for any support, contribution, or share. Yaara was born during Passover in 2022. A happy, healthy, sweet, and smiling little girl. We waited for her with so much anticipation, and when she came, we were overjoyed. We cherished every moment... We traveled, played, dreamed... When Yaara was five months and two weeks old, while we were at home with COVID, and after she had received all the required vaccinations, on Yom Kippur, October 5, 2022, a bacterium attacked, and our sweet daughter became critically ill with meningitis. The injury was extensive, severe, and devastating. All of her motor and cognitive abilities were affected. Everything changed, and our world collapsed. We were hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit at Soroka Medical Center and then transferred to the pediatric ward. After about two months, we continued directly to rehabilitation at ALYN Hospital in Jerusalem. After approximately four months, we finally returned home. We had to learn everything all over again. We continued with intensive rehabilitation and tried to learn as much as we possibly could. And throughout it all, we never stopped being amazed by the abilities, strength, and courage of our incredibly special Yaara. One year and two days later, like the rest of the world, we experienced October 7, 2023. Our world collapsed once again. And within this tragedy, our beloved community, the Eshkol Regional Council, went through the unimaginable. We were evacuated together with our beloved community, first to the Dead Sea and then to Sde Boker. This terrible rupture and the evacuation that followed happened during a very significant period in Yaara’s rehabilitation, particularly in terms of brain plasticity. We were only a few months beyond the transition from the acute stage into the early stage of trying to establish a routine of therapy and rehabilitation after returning home from the hospital. Neuroplasticity at this young age, and so close to the brain injury, makes this a particularly important period for intervention and for the formation of new connections in the brain. And during this exact period, we were living in a hotel room, shocked, grieving, and in pain. We did not have the physical or emotional conditions needed for the work and therapy that were so important, precisely at that time. After six months, we returned home once again. Once again, we tried to learn how to navigate our new reality. And we continue to try and to learn. Every single day. We read research papers, explore different treatment approaches, ask questions, consult with professionals, and reach out again and again. We travel to different places in Israel and around the world. We try different approaches and meet incredible and very special therapists and professionals. We are constantly trying to learn how to adapt Yaara’s treatment and her path so that they can be the best, most suitable, and most precise for her that we can possibly make them. Yaara is a true little hero. She goes through so much, yet she never stops amazing us with her abilities and with her incredibly special and captivating sweetness. She is progressing. She communicates in her own way. She moves more. She is more attentive. She responds more. She is just the best! There is truly no one like her. As part of the research we are constantly doing, we also discovered an innovative treatment in Bangalore, India. The treatment is called NeuroCytonix. It is a non-invasive treatment based on radiofrequency electromagnetic fields that are individually directed toward the injured areas of the brain. The idea is to influence cellular and molecular processes in the brain and encourage its natural mechanisms of neuroplasticity and recovery. Among the mechanisms proposed by the treatment are strengthening, supporting, and creating new connections between nerve cells; regeneration of the myelin sheath surrounding nerve cells; and the formation of new cells. The treatment is carried out over 28 consecutive days, for one hour each day. Their recommendation is to complete three such treatment cycles over the next year and a half. After many conversations with the clinic team, as well as with families from Israel and around the world who traveled there for the treatment and returned with stories that gave us hope, we are asking for the opportunity to reach this special place and try the treatment, with enormous hope that it may give our Yaara another path toward progress and growth. Following the treatment in India, we are planning to travel directly to an intensive therapy program at NAPA Center in London, so that we can try to further strengthen neural connections and pathways through targeted, repeated practice, and allow the processes we so deeply hope will take place during the treatment to be expressed in meaningful ways. We want to give Yaara’s brain meaningful opportunities for learning and practice. The therapies at NAPA are intended to help translate this potential into functional progress through learning, movement, communication, eating, and more.
