We believe that all human beings were created in the image of God and invite everyone to see the beauty in diversity. In our opinion, the difference is an advantage. Our mission is to make Israeli society a better place for people with intellectual disabilities and their families: a respectful, warm, and accepting society that enables self-fulfillment in recognizing the diversity and a commitment to equal opportunities. The organization works to improve the quality of life and well-being of about 35,000 people with intellectual disabilities and their families in Israel, through legal advocacy - Akim's Department of Exercise Rights and Clinic at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, and through community advocacy - telephone helpline 'Parents for Parents', financial support for needy families Akim, parent committees in all housing frameworks, self-advocacy leaderships, as well as parent leaderships in 65 Akim branches in 88 communities in Jewish and Arab society and managed by about 1,400 elected volunteers from all over the country, working to change positions in society. ** Join us.
