Kaparot

The tradition of Kaparot involves waving a chicken or sum of money over the heads of each person in the family which is later given to the poor. The prayer found below is recited asking that by giving the animals or money to tzedaka we will be blessed with a good and pleasant year. When donating Kaparot money online, the money used can be exchanged with the online purchase. When reciting the first twelve words below, pass the chicken, fish or money over your head three times. This is my exchange, this is my substitute, this is my expiation. This chicken shall go to death and I shall proceed to a good, long life and peace.
