We, members of the Parents Circle – Families Forum, affirm our shock, condemnation, and deep pain over the violence we have been experiencing in our region ever since October 7. The unending conflict causes suffering of indescribable magnitude for innocent people. These are days of tremendous sorrow, with the knowledge that more families than we can count are carrying the burden of emptiness in their hearts, and the heavy weight of grieving over the tragic loss of their loved ones. The price of violence is not measured in numbers only, but in dreams never to be realized, potential lost, and relationships for which there are no replacements, severed by horrifying actions. The overt and covert victims are entitled to unconditional empathy and support, in coping with the trauma to which they have been subjected. At this time, the Israeli staff and the Palestinian staff of the Forum alike are working day and night and holding meetings to make our shared voices heard – a matter so necessary at this time. Not afterwards, not tomorrow, now, precisely at this time.
It is the undeniable truth that the time has come to change the situation. This region has absorbed too much pain, too much bloodshed, and too many tears. This is the moment when all sides involved must look at the hopelessness of the ongoing conflict and recognize the shared human traits that connect us to each other. Let's remember that violence breeds violence, and the only way to move forward is by negotiating for peace, dialogue, diplomacy, and commitment to finding a common denominator. This is a call for action, to leaders, communities, and individuals, to find solutions that will promote reconciliation, justice, and sustainable peace. We must also acknowledge the crucial role of international cooperation and humanitarian efforts to mitigate the pain of the victims of the conflict. The international community must stand together, united in support for finding a solution of peace and stability in our region. At a time when words alone are unable to heal the wounds or return lives lost, they can serve as a reminder of the shared responsibility to end this cycle of violence. This is the mission for all of us, to act tirelessly for a future in which the people living in our region will be able to live without fear, raise their children with security, a future in which the seeds of hope will bear fruit.
