Kivunim’s programs, both past and present, have been conceived and implemented for the purpose of advancing young adults with disabilities toward the challenges of independent living and community integration. We envision a world in which people with disabilities are recognized as active, independent, and contributing members of society. Our programs emphasize strengths and abilities, build self-confidence, increase independence and self-management skills and encourage social inclusion.
Kivunim provides services to individuals with physical disabilities, sensory (vision/hearing) impairments, chronic illness and associated disorders, and high-functioning young adults with autism. Our program participants are eager to be independent, leave their parent's homes, and be active and contributing members of society.
Our Wings & Carmel preparatory programs are transitional programs that bridge between the parents' home and independent living. The programs last two years, in which participants train in self-management and independence: - Wings - for participants with physical/sensory disabilities
- Carmel - for high-functioning young adults with autism
- Koach ('strength') - for participants with hearing impairments
- Almustaqbal ('the future') - for Arabic speaking participants
