“HaBayit - Family Support and Empowerment” has been active since 2019 .
In 2021, it was formally registered as a non-profit organization (NGO) - a non-political social initiative that provides holistic, professional support to middle-class families in Israel. Its focus is on strengthening the population that constitutes the productive and serving backbone of Israeli society, guided by a professional, holistic approach and driven entirely by volunteerism .
Since October 7, and following an urgent appeal from women’s community networks, HaBayit has concentrated its efforts on the rehabilitation and support of families of reservists. Its mission is to equip these families with the tools and support needed to restore stability, regain their strength, and continue building their lives .
“ HaBayit Bamiluim” (HaBayit for Reservist Families) is a unique program of the HaBayit organization, providing holistic support to families of reservists. The program offers a personalized, human-centered, and tailored response — grounded in the deep understanding that the resilience of Israeli society depends on the families who hold the home front together when routine is disrupted .
Each family is accompanied for a period of six months by a trained volunteer mentor, in a structured process that includes practical tools, emotional support, and guidance in key areas: parenting and education, couple relationships, career and employment, financial management, and the strengthening of personal and family resilience .
Investing in the family is an investment in national security .
Since its establishment following the events of October 7, the organization has supported over 220 families across the country in 2025, all of whom reported a profound improvement in their sense of stability, resilience, and family cohesion. The initiative is driven by the belief that no family should have to cope alone - there is always someone ready to extend a hand and walk the journey together .
Looking ahead, the organization plans to expand its impact significantly in 2026, reaching many hundreds of additional families .

The program takes a holistic approach, addressing six core domains: couple relationships, parenting, financial stability, career development, resilience, and personal empowerment .
“HaBayit Bamiluim” provides six months of continuous family support through trained volunteer family mentors, who undergo comprehensive training and are themselves supported throughout the entire process by a multidisciplinary professional team, including clinical psychologists, social workers, and subject-matter experts .
Many participating families have described the practical tools, emotional encouragement, and attentive guidance they received as life-changing.
How It Works – A Proven Model with Real Impact
The support model developed by HaBayit’s experts in psychology, social work, and education is rooted in the concept of family resilience - the capacity of families to function in everyday life and during times of crisis, adapt to change, and emerge stronger .
Research demonstrates that such support improves communication, decision-making, parent–child relationships, family cohesion, and overall emotional stability. In addition, the initiative highlights the vital role of civil society in Israel, and the responsibility of individuals to step forward and support one another during times of deep crisis and distress .
Volunteer mentors undergo comprehensive training and are supported on an ongoing basis by a multidisciplinary professional team, including clinical psychologists, social workers, and family professionals. Each mentor meets with the family once every two weeks over a six-month period, while maintaining continuous contact between meetings .
