Some decades ago, while Kassem rockets were being fired regularly from the Gaza Strip onto the town of Sderot, Israel, Rabbi Yissachar Meir, zt"l, established a yeshivah there to help the town grow spiritually and materialistically. Many residents had abandoned Sderot because of the constant threat of terrorist fire, and Rav Yissachar wanted to bring encouragement to those who remained there, and to give them hope for the town’s future. He brought in a number of young Torah scholars, who could protect Sderot spiritually through their Torah learning, and who would marry and build their families there, thus helping the town grow.
Since its inception, the yeshivah has attracted many fine students who have had a positive influence on Sderot, enriching it just as Rav Yissachar had envisioned. This wonderful Torah center also provides tutoring and other social services to the community.
As we have recently seen, the town of Sderot is still being targeted with missiles and terrorist attacks. In fact, at this writing the town has been evacuated for the residents’ safety. Your donation to the Sderot Torah Center, enabling it to maintain and expand its activities, will enhance the strength and resilience of this important town and all its brave residents.
