Bshvil Hamachar

Founded in 2009, Bshvil Hamachar is dedicated to offering life-restoring support to IDF reservists— our heroes on the front lines— who suffer from the psychological effects of combat-related trauma. Our uniquely executed model has delivered remarkable results, transforming the lives of over 4,800 combat reserve soldiers. We collaborate with the IDF’s Mental Health Department, the Ministry of Defense, and the University of Haifa. It is estimated that of the 90,000 soldiers who come from combat units, 35% will display partial PTSD symptoms; these are the soldiers we are focusing on helping. Our model consists in multi-day nature retreats, guided by mental health professionals, offering combat veterans a path to healing. We focus on processing trauma, enhancing well-being, boosting resilience, fostering social reintegration, and strengthening IDF camaraderie. Our diverse programs consist in multi-day healing retreats, initial response retreats and psychological support for family members and spouses of soldiers. Through our focused programs and dedicated support, we provide essential help to soldiers and their families, helping them heal from trauma and strengthen their well-being for the future. We are working hard, but we must do more. Every combat soldier deserves this journey, the need is urgent.
