Leket Provides for Israel

Rescuing quality surplus food, in times of routine and crisis, for those who need it most

Donors: 4568

With the outbreak of the devastating Swords of Iron war, Leket Israel was called upon to provide immediate assistance to the residents of the south, evacuees from their homes in the north and south, homebound individuals, those who regularly receive aid, and Leket’s invaluable partners—the farmers. After assessing the situation and mapping out the needs in collaboration with organizations on the ground, we adapted our operations to the crisis and focused on the most challenging areas requiring attention. As the prolonged fighting unfolded, we faced new and unique challenges in an ever-changing and complex reality. With food rescue sources not yet restored to their full capacity, a significant increase in the number of people needing our assistance, inaccessible agricultural fields, and the rising cost of living, Leket Israel’s work has become more critical and impactful than ever. As the new year begins, with a 25% increase in the number of individuals receiving food from Leket, we are acutely aware of the challenges that lie ahead. We are fully committed to leveraging all our knowledge, logistical resources, and management capabilities to operate the system that provides support to all those who rely on us. Our hope is that this year, we will continue this vital mission: to assist in rehabilitating farms in the north, serve as a pillar of support for our partner farmers, provide meaningful aid to residents in conflict zones, and fulfill the organization’s vision—to rescue fresh and nutritious food for vulnerable populations across the country. We call on our supporter to join us in this life-saving mission.
