Shabbat meals to support the home front

We are a group of women who, since the beginning of the war, have been organizing Shabbat meals for 150 to 200 people every week. **We are helping “miluim families”- families with a parent who is currently serving in the army, where preparing Shabbat these days can be an emotional, technical and financial challenge. **We are helping families who have been evacuated from their homes in the North and South of the country. They are currently in temporary housing in Jerusalem, which makes it difficult for them to lead a normal lifestyle. **We are providing meals for a group of soldiers who come to Jerusalem for Shabbat after enduring extremely meager conditions and cold food rations during the week. The Shabbat meals we provide are far beyond a "meal" - they nourish their body and soul; they are a "hug" expressing our support. For the soldiers on the front, knowing their spouses and children are taken care of, allows them to focus on their critical tasks at hand. The meals are plentiful, varied and delicious, and delivered to their door. The cost per person is only 120nis for meals for an entire Shabbat ($150/avg family).
