Building a safe shelter to our kid's kindergarten in Beer Sheva

As a group of parents wanting to take an active role in our children's education, we established PeuTeva (In Hebrew: Peut - Toddler, Teva - Nature). Our parent-owned nursery school aims to provide children with a safe and nurturing environment to explore the world around them, nature's beauty, and the joy of simplicity. Our nursery school has 32 children aged 1-3 years and is located within a community park in one of the old neighborhoods of Beer Sheva, Israel. We especially cherish our connection to the community and hope that the presence and the laughter of children playing brings life, joy, and a sense of renewal to the neighborhood. Since the horrific terror attack of October 7, the school has been closed, and our tight-knit community is scattered across the country, dealing with pain, fear, and anxiety. Even during these troubling times, when rockets are still fired at us, we wish to return to a sense of normalcy, a necessary anchor for our childrens to reduce trauma and deal with the situation. A routine that is no less important for us parents, as well, to be able to face the many challenges that are still ahead of us - security, economic, and social worries. Unfortunately, the building where PeuTeva is located does not have a bomb shelter and is not suitable for use in times of war. We are collecting donations for the purchase and construction of a bomb shelter that will allow the school to reopen, allowing our children and families to experience a certain level of routine, in their familiar community and living environment while reducing anxiety and trauma. The cost of building and installing a bomb shelter that is big enough for all of our students and teachers is about 240,000 NIS (about $60,000) and any donations larger or smaller will be gratefully received.
