Beit Knesset HaNassi Adopt-A-Community: Tzohar
By Sulamot
Atufim: a "Sulamot" and "La'Ofek" initiative spearheaded by Rav Rimon
Donors: 80
Beit Knesset HaNassi is proud to be supporting: Tzohar in partnership with Sulamot and La’Ofek, through the Atufim initiative.
Atufim provides the financial support and organizational infrastructure that the displaced communities desperately need to weather this difficult period and begin the process of rebuilding their communities. Designated task teams from both of Rav Rimon's organizations, Sulamot and La'Ofek, are working closely with the affected communities to assess their specific needs and requirements.
What is Tzohar: Location and Community
Tzohar is a community located in the western Negev desert of southern Israel. Tzohar serves as an educational and service center for the surrounding region. With a population of about 450 residents, Tzohar is considered a tight-knit village.
The village has a mixed secular and religious population. It offers many services to residents including a sports center, emergency response center, regional clinic, library, synagogue, mikveh, swimming pool and more. Tzohar functions as a hub community for nearby moshavim and kibbutzim whose residents utilize its services.
The Future of Tzohar:
Tzohar is one of the older communities in the Ashkelon regional council, established in 1972. Despite its history, today there is real fear that people will not return to their homes in Tzohar after recent conflicts.
There is an urgent need to help Tzohar specifically because it is considered the weakest link: Tzohar lacks the large swaths of land that other kibbutzim have and has a small population, and is located 200 meters outside the risk zone per state criteria, which means that it does not receive supplemental financial assistance for protective measures granted to other border towns.
Tzohar and Adopt-a-Community:
Atufim aims to bolster Tzohar with urgently needed aid that allows every single family to safely rebuild their lives. Special assistance is required to uplift communal welfare in this precariously situated village. We seek to rebuild and strengthen their fractured sense of community and security.
Please join Beit Knesset HaNassi as we partner with other global communities, to support and rebuild Tzohar!
