Join Us in Supporting Firefly 9739 - Israel’s first all-female robotics team at an international comptetitive level! We are Firefly 9739, an FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) all-girls team from the Orot Bnei Akiva religious school in Modi'in, Israel, establised in 2024.    Our vision as a team is to pave the way for more girls to enter STEM fields, create a foundation for the future of women in science and technology, and provide them with a safe space to express themselves, grow, and learn. We aim to inspire teenage girls everywhere to take interest in these fields and potentially pursue them in the future. Firefly is an Israeli robotics team uniquely composed entirely of women. In addition to the valuable experience we gained in our first season in 2024, our team achieved remarkable success, including Winner of our first District Event and Runner-Up in our second District Event. We also achieved top awards including: • Rookie Inspiration recognizing a first-year team for promoting appreciation and respect for science and technology within their community; • Rookie All Star, the most prestigious award for first-year teams, and the first time in five years this award has been given in Israel at the finals, which recognizes a team's potential and its efforts to spread science and technology and FIRST values within the global community. Our success won us a highly-coveted place with the FIRST Israel delegation to the World Robotics Championship in Houston, Texas. We are the first all-girls robotic's team from Israel to earn the opportunity to represent the State of Israel at an international level. Unfortunately, our travel plans were cancelled due to the April 2024 Iranian attacks on Israel and we were unable to compete in Houston in 2024, though we hope to again achieve this opportuntity in future years.  Participation in the FIRST Robotic Competition requires significant funds, typically $50,000 every annual robotics season to purchase the tools, equipment, electronic and robotic parts as well as competition-related expenses. Should we be succesful enough to win a place to the international competition, a further $100,000 in travel-related expenses is needed. While we have some funding from Bnei Akiva, the city of Modiin, and parents, we are still well short of funding goals. In the coming year, with your help, we would love to build and fully stock a professional robotics workshop, at a cost of $65,000.   Together, we hope to defy expectations, inspire future generations of female engineers, and show the world what girls in robotics are capable of. Join us on this incredible journey as we make history and show what female Israeli teenagers are capable in Robotics! Thank you for your support!
