Noa Peer - Ach Gadol for Lone Soldiers 2024

“When I first came home from Gaza, what I really needed was someone to share my experiences with. Someone who would understand what I’d just been through without having to elaborate. Someone who knows the language and who always knows the right thing to say.” There are currently thousands of lone soldiers every day. Soldiers who left a safe and familiar environment in order to make Aliyah and serve in the IDF. During the war, the lone soldiers are on the front lines with everyone else, but they don’t have a family waiting for them when they get home with comfort and a hot meal. Waiting to listen to what they have gone through and support them. Their families are far away, missing them, and cannot provide the support that these soldiers need. We are here for them. The Ach Gadol organization was established by lone soldiers 14 years ago in effort to alleviate the feeling of loneliness throughout the military service. The organization is made up of 500 volunteers who are released lone soldiers, they accompany 1,700 lone soldiers throughout and after their service. The volunteers continue to accompany the soldiers as they reach the end of their service and head out into the real world and begin to integrate into Israeli society. They make sure that they feel and know that they are not alone. These lone soldiers are provided with emotional support, a listening ear, bureaucratic assistance, contact with commanders when necessary and psychological assistance in processing everything they’ve experienced. The Ach Gadol organization take care of the soldiers and is there for them during war time. From logistical help tp bureaucratice assistance with evergency travel for family members, all done in appreciation for their brave choice to make Aliyah and enlist. 25 lone soldiers have been killed since October 7 and dozens more have been injured and are undergoing a rehabilitation process. They all sacrificed their lives for us. And now we need your help – In order for us to be able to continue to with our work as an organization and make sure that no lone soldier is left behind, this is the third year that we are launching a crowdfunding campaign. We don’t have the privilege of being able to stop now! The lone soldiers need us mow and will continue to need us as they will later need to process the things that they’re experiencing on the battlefields right now with their volunteers.
