Every boy and girl need a loving home and family

Donors: 33

About the Project “No family wants me because I’m a bad kid.”   So said Omri (all names have been changed to protect identities) a seven-year-old boy when speaking to the emergency foster mother whose home he was living.  Omri’s mother is a drug addict and his father had never been around to help raise him for years he had been waiting to be accepted by a family to provide him with a sense of stability and guidance.  Omri is a child filled with love, who simply wants to be accepted by a family that will be able to love him in return.   Anna is six years old and is very connected with her biological mother who loves her in return but is unable to properly care for her daughter due to a debilitating alcohol addiction.  Anna never knew her father.  Painfully she had to separate from her mother and for the past several months has been living in an emergency foster home in the south of Israel.  She waits for a family that will welcome her in and provide her with a lasting and loving home.  Omri and Anna are certainly not alone. 40 infants and children, some of them confronting deeply complex emotional challenges, are waiting for families who will care for them and show them love… they are waiting for homes…  Each and every child deserves a warm and safe home setting.  When a child experiences abuse or is abandoned by their parents, we have an obligation to find them that home.  The Summit Institute helps identify these foster families and provides them with practical and emotional training to welcome these children into their homes.  With your support, we can be blessed to continue this critical work and provide the professional emotional, and therapeutic support that is so needed for children who have experienced deep and unimaginable traumas.   These are children who have been put in a situation where they feel no hope for their futures.  Often they fell themselves abandoned with no prior notice, thrust into a new and frightening reality, separated from anyone and anything that they know or can feel they trust.  It’s as if the ground has been swept out from underneath them with no idea what the next day will bring.  This is the painful reality for children born to parents who are unable to raise them and are taken out of their homes into lives of uncertainty and chaos.    At Summit we do everything possible to help these children and heal the wounds by giving them the tools they need to cope.  To do this we need your support and together we can help these infants and children find the homes and families that are waiting for them.     On behalf of these children, we implore you to help us ensure they aren’t left alone.
