mawanga

The MAWANGA expedition is a voluntary humanitarian expedition that operates under the HelpUp organization. The word MAWANGA means “light” and it represents our mission to bring light when the situation becomes dark and difficult. We also chose the time of “Chanukah”, the Hebrew holiday of light, celebrating the overcoming of adversity during the darkest of times. We will go to Tanzania with the aim of influencing the education and health of weak communities. The expedition is composed of 45 devoted individuals that work intensively in order to provide facilitation to weak populations. One of our missions is to contribute and improve the education quality by renovating schools in the villages, supplying dedicated equipment and working to empower local pedagogical staff. Another aim is to contribute to the betterment of local nutrition by encouraging the population to consume local and available foods in order better to cope with nutritional deficiencies. This will be done by setting up and delivering cooking workshops, planting vegetable gardens and training the students as well as their parents. In addition, we will seek to assist in additional areas, such as improving the drinking water infrastructure, promoting the role of sports in their lives, helping the local communities and advancing the female role in local societies. In order to achieve these important goals, we approach you with a request to donate to our expedition. Your generous donations will pave the way for meaningful change in the lives of these young children in Africa and to promote the culture of volunteering in Israely society, bettering both our societies.
