PurAm Echad

SAHI – Special Hessed (Grace) Unit, has been operating for over a decade for youth in the Israeli socio-geographical periphery, in a wide geographical spread. In SAHI, instead of approaching the youth with the message “We’re here to help you”, our message is: “We need your help to help others”. For the first time in their lives, the teenagers, often removed from educational frameworks, are filled with purpose, and choose a positive path of refraining from criminal activities. The teenagers initiate a variety of local giving activities such as secretly provide food for impoverished families, renovating homes of elderly people, assist children with disabilities, volunteer with Holocaust survivors and more. They become a model of inspiration for the entire community. This year SAHI is partnering with PurAm Echad. Purim 2025/תשפה is unlike any we have experienced as a people. PurAm Echad adopt an approach to Purim this year that both honors the miracles and commandments of the day and allows us to support our brothers and sisters in Israel. The Rambam writes “It is preferable for a person to be generous with his donations to the poor than to be lavish in his preparation of the Purim feast or in sending Mishloach Manot to his friends. For there is no greater and more splendid happiness than to gladden the hearts of the poor…”.
