Tomer's Way

Tomer Keren was a 20-year-old soldier from Haifa, a fighter in the 51st Battalion of the Golani Brigade, who fell bravely on September 19th during combat in northern Israel. Tomer, son of Sandra and Amit and brother to Ben, grew up in Haifa and was a shining presence in every part of his life – at school, in the Scouts, and in the army. His commanders saw his amazing potential and placed him in the command unit, planning for him to become a commander himself. Sadly, he didn’t get the chance. Tomer was full of life, brought people together, and spread light, kindness, and hope wherever he went. To honor Tomer’s memory, we created a meaningful partnership with Lev Chash, a nonprofit organization that has been working in Haifa for many years. Lev Chash supports children with serious illnesses, their families, and people facing difficult life situations, with care and a strong sense of community. From this connection, the Tomer's Room project was born. When a child is seriously ill, life often shrinks to hospital hallways and treatment rooms. The Tomer Room will be a place that opens new doors – a space of hope, learning, and healing. We aim to establish a treatment and activity room for children at the family guesthouse near the hospital. This space will offer holistic support tailored to the children’s needs, all within a warm and home-like environment. The room will serve as a vibrant hub of support, hosting educational sessions to help children catch up on their studies, emotional and complementary therapies, and training sessions for staff and volunteers. This space will offer them a chance to receive nurturing support, develop creative thinking, collaborate with others, and even acquire new skills.
