858 days of ongoing war. We are no longer “between rounds.” We are no longer counting days, waiting for releases, or on edge for the next emergency call-ups. We are a reservist family. For the third consecutive year, 100,000 families continue to carry the burden of prolonged fighting within a reality that has reshaped every part of our lives -our parenting, our relationships, our children and our work. Now, it is time for the system to adapt to us. We are “Fighting for this Home”- not only our own, but everyone’s. For this generation and the ones that follow. Today, we have the opportunity to transform the reality of Israel’s entire reserve system - in the frontline and on the home front - and it is our civic responsibility to do so. It is time to turn temporary grants into permanent policy, emergency provisions into structured legislation, and emotional support into an anchored, regulated response - creating together a stable and reliable support system for reservist families. On October 7, the most difficult and prolonged war in the country’s history erupted. It tested our civic commitment and created a new reality in which the reserve system no longer mobilized a single soldier - but an entire family. Since then, and to this day, the Forum of Reservists’ Wives has been responding to this reality - a reality of a little life alongside a lot of reserve duty. In the Knesset, in local authorities, within communities and across the media - around every decision-making table - we raise, and will continue to raise, the voices and complex realities of hundreds of thousands of reservists’ partners who have activated both their homes and their careers for the army. In a short time, the Forum has led significant achievements, including: Advancing the “Miluim Recruits” government assistance package totaling 27 billion NIS; Historic legislation protecting the employment rights of reservists’ spouses and partners; Official recognition as a registered non-profit organization in April 2024. This work has also received broad public recognition - through major awards, the honor of lighting a torch at Israel’s Independence Day ceremony, and inclusion in leading influence rankings in Israel and worldwide. We have accomplished great things together over the past two years. We have proven that there is no force in nature stronger than a woman and a mother. But there is still much more to do. Precisely now, in days when the intensified fighting seems to have “ended” and it appears that everyone has returned to routine - we need your support. We may not be able to prevent the next round of call-ups. But we can ensure that reservist families receive the support they deserve, and that the burden we now carry becomes lighter.
