Drachim

Drachim is the educational platform for the training of pioneering Zionist Jewish leaders, founded by HaMidrasha at Oranim, the educational center for the renewal of Jewish life in Israel. Drachim, through HeChalutz, offers a wide variety of educational programs for young adults 18–35 years old, including the Yitzchak Rabin Pre-Army Leadership Academy; Shana Bet; urban and agricultural national service year (shnat sherut) programs; the half-year Reut Pre-Army Leadership Academy; guidance for soldiers in the IDF; Made in Israel, a program for Jewish Israeli identity education and employment of recently discharged soldiers in agriculture; Seeds of Summer, a Jewish identity seminar for young people; Shachar, a network of student communities focused on deep social change; and young communities located in Israel’s geographic and economic periphery. HeChalutz is unique in that it is available to young adults every step of the way, from post-high school to post-college, offering them opportunities to expand their horizons as they become informed leaders, advocates, and community activists who create change. Our programs encourage participants to be engaged citizens and become leaders in the IDF, the civil service, the school system, municipal government, the nonprofit sector, and a variety of other influential and socially engaged positions, as well as to put vision into practice as members of communities that provide a common launching point for meaningful action and social life that produce change. HaMidrasha- HeChalutz -Drachim Vision • A society of individuals who are at home in Jewish, Zionist, pioneering culture and use it as the foundation of their personal and civic identities. • A society built on Jewish values, mutual responsibility, humanism, civic responsibility, gender equality, and a myriad of social and cultural bonds.
