This, however, is not new to children, teens, and young adults with special needs who often have fewer opportunities to develop the meaningful connections that empower us. By connecting participants with special needs to a neurotypical teen buddy, participants develop meaningful friendships while cultivating social and life skills. Our teen volunteers also develop the values, compassion, and skills they need to become tomorrow’s leaders. Hundreds of families with children, teens, and adults with special needs are empowered each year through the many social and recreational programs the Friendship Circle of Central Jerusalem offers the community ( please see below).. An unprecedented opportunity is at hand which will allow us to continue growing and expanding all of our vital programs. We need to raise $250,000 in new contributions to achieve this milestone and give us the foundation funds for our bold initiatives. The Friendship Circle of Central Jerusalem means many things to many people. To some it’s our Friends@Home program where teens visit a child who may never have had a playdate; to our young volunteers, it’s a teen leadership program; for our families it’s family outings, Shabbat Family Dinners, guest speakers, Mom’s night out and the epic Rockin' Friendship Concert; During the summer it’s the unforgettable FC Camp Klara ; In the winter it's FC Camp Chanukah! For FC teens It's the popular, inclusive Bar/ Bat Mitzvah Circle. And this year, our brand new FCBC BOYS' camp! It's giving our friends with challenges the opportunity to play a magical game of baseball on the sports field..It's creating a platform for them to showcase their artistic talents in the Art of Friendship projects. Friendship Circle does not celebrate these achievements as a plateau, but as a springboard to yet greater heights.
