The Maaleh Film School, a boutique film school located in Jerusalem, is dedicated to exploring the intersection of Judaism and modernity through the visual language of film.
Maaleh trains students at highest professional level in:
• 4-year Filmmaking Track
• 2-year Scriptwriting Track
Filmmaking Track students produce short dramas and documentaries, creating artistic and inspiring stories that share their world, their hopes and dreams, fears and challenges.
Each year, Maaleh films are screened and awarded prizes in international film festivals. The films are then shared with schools and an array of community organizations for cultural, educational and entertaining film events.
Maaleh graduates are working in every facet of the Israeli film and television industry. More and more they are influencing the way Israel is portrayed domestically and around the world.
Many of the students' and graduates' works, films and television series, deal with Jewish identity, stories and dilemmas. In public and private screenings, the films build bridges across all sectors of the Jewish world and between Israel and the world at large.
Over the years, Maaleh expanded its mission to include filmmaking as a tool for social change. Maaleh pioneered the concept of VideoTherapy, hosting workshops for special groups in need of creative support. The school also offers a vocational filmmaking track for Ultra-Orthodox women.
