Life and Environment The Israeli Union of Environmental NGOs

Founded in 1975, Life and Environment is a network of 130 professional and grassroots organizations from all over Israel that advocate for sustainability and environmental justice. Life and Environment leads and coordinates the Israeli environmental movement, serves as a mentor to grass-root organizations and empowers its member organizations. Life and Environment spearheads broad-based, high-impact initiatives as the recognized representative of Israel's environmental movement. Gaining strength and influence as a united front, Life and Environment has directly impacted national environmental policy, increased public involvement in decision-making and planning, and promoted sustainable development, environmental justice and public health issues. Life and Environment's goal, as well as its expertise, is to ensure meaningful civil society involvement in decision making processes concerning environment and health. Life and Environment thus focuses on increasing the impact of its member organizations on decision-making in Israel through consulting, advocacy and professional assistance. Furthermore, the organization coordinates effective coalitions between member organizations on key issues.
