Muslala

Muslala is a nonprofit organization established in 2009 by artists, residents, and community activists . The organization aims to develop nourishing and healing models for community-based and sustainable urban development. By thinking about systemic change, Muslala aims to re-envision the potential of the city as a place that is planned and built for the people and in a way that is harmonic with the environment. Muslala is a greenhouse for initiatives that take place at the intersection of community and sustainability: 1) The Terrace - a rooftop garden that shows the potential of green roofs and under-used areas in the city 2) Sinsila - a rooftop garden in East Jerusalem that teaches urban gardening and empowers women to grow bees on their roofs 3) Food Rescuers - aim to develop a more just and sustainable urban food system that is communal and based on the resources existing in the city 4) The Workshop - a community-based carpentry space
